Welcome to the 2019 NY GovBuy. It is a pleasure to be collaborating with the Office of the State Comptroller, the New York State Association of Municipal Purchasing Officials (SAMPO), the State University of New York, and, for the first time, the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services of New York State (BOCES). By working together, we are able to provide a more comprehensive event for all NYS purchasers.
Several new classes are being offered this year, including “OGS Online: Resources for Central Procurement,” “Understand How to Use the Public Safety 1122 Program,” and “NYS Public Schools and BOCES Purchasing.” Additionally, OGS Chief Procurement Officer Sean Carroll will conduct town hall-style meetings each day. These meetings, along with the evaluation forms, provide you with an opportunity to let us know what is working and where you would like to see improvements made.
My team at OGS is always looking to improve our procurement processes, and the automation of our online Vehicle Marketplace is the most recent example of how we are fulfilling our mission to deliver the best value and most cost-effective option to our customers.
Governor Cuomo continues to promote economic opportunities for NYS-certified minority- and women-owned business enterprises and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, small businesses, preferred sources, sellers of recycled and re-manufactured goods, and food producers. Please visit the vendor and our State agency exhibitor booths to discover what they have to offer.
At OGS, the centralized contracts managed by our Procurement Services department are designed to save you money and to save your staff time by eliminating the challenging process of conducting your own procurements.
I wish to thank New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson, NY SAMPO President Jeanne Carroza, BOCES District Superintendents, and all their teams for partnering with us on this event and for sharing their talented staff in support of our training and procurement activities.
Again, welcome to the 2019 NY GovBuy event and thank you for attending!
RoAnn M. Destito
Commissioner, Office of General Services
